Collection Highlight: The
Fordson tractor has a special significance for the Mennonites of this
community. After the formation of Mennonite Central Committee in 1920
to assist Mennonites still remaining in Russia and suffering after the
trauma of World War II and under Communist rule, 50 Fordson tractors and
plows like this were sent to Russia to help re-establish food
production in the Ukraine. Information at the exhibit tells more of the
story, and more about the Fordson tractors shipped to Russia.
